Sumi-e Painting Print Collection

Japanese brush painting (sumi-e) uses a brush and black ink, bringing out the different shades and creating "colour" through the use of water and ink on absorbent rice paper.

The calendar depicts the 12 animals of the Chinese Zodiac (eto). In Japan they are celebrated with the start of each calendar year, often adorning New Year's cards (nenga jo) at O-shogatsu. I started painting these animals for my nenga jo in 1999. This is the second volume of these paintings. - Michael Abe, Artist

A portion of the proceeds are donated to Japanese Canadian community association across Canada and the Mustard Seed Bank in Victoria.
