In the shadow of the Second World War and the forced relocation of Japanese Canadians by the Government of Canada, Ojiichan’s Dragon unfolds as a sweeping historical fantasy set in a remote internment camp deep in the heart of British Columbia.

Ojiichan, a Japanese grandfather with a secret connection to the supernatural world of Yōkai, becomes a beacon of magic and resilience for his grandchildren, Yuki and Takashi. Together they transform the difficult landscape of 1940s Canada into a place where spirits travel through trees and lakes whisper with memories.

Crafted by award-winning author and illustrator Jeff Chiba Stearns, Ojiichan’s Dragon is a visually rich, heart-stirring graphic novel about the power of family, the love we inherit, and the unbreakable bonds that guide our journey.

Intended audience: pre-teen, young adult (Ages 8+)
